Deborah Oluwaseyi popularly known as Seyi Shay was born on December 21, 1985. The British-Nigerian singer, songwriter, and actress are multi-talented. She is a hard worker, She wrote and produced three songs for the Konami video game Crime Life: Gang Wars soundtrack (2005).
She also wrote the song “You Will See,” which appeared on Melanie C’s third studio album Beautiful Intentions (2005). Shay wrote “White Lies,” which appears on Chip’s Transition album.
She signed a record deal with Island Records in July 2015. She signed a two-year endorsement deal with Pepsi in 2015. In November 2015, Shay released her debut studio album, Seyi or Shay. It was accompanied by promotional singles such as “Irawo,” “Ragga Ragga,” “Right Now,” and “Murda,” which featured Patoranking and Shaydee.
She signed a publishing deal with Universal Music Publishing Group France division in January 2021, in collaboration with Universal Music France.
According to the singer, her family members influenced her musical interest. Her late mother was a chorister, her sister wrote songs for the BBC, and her brother was a well-known London club and radio DJ. As a child, Shay joined her secondary school choir at the age of six and began performing.
Sometime in 2019, Seyi Shay got engaged but along the line, the wedding was cut off and she broke up with her supposed fiancee. This was a result of her man’s infidelity allegation. She is currently single.
